Waikiki in Hawaiian means Spouting Waters. It is primarily a resort district situated on the south shore of Oahu and is considered a neighborhood of Metro Oahu. Most condos range in price from $55,000 to as high as $23 million. Waikiki has many vacation rentals and has great opportunities for someone looking for rental investments.
Waikiki has 6 different beaches along its coast where you can enjoy the sun and surf at your convenience. There are many activities you can participate in on the water such as a dinner cruise on the Star of Honolulu, a Booze Cruise on a catamaran, an outrigger canoe lesson, and surf board rentals. It is also home of the Waikiki Aquarium where you can go see some amazing oceanic life. My favorite are the jelly fish, but the sharks are pretty amazing too. And don’t forget to visit the Honolulu Zoo just up the road.
If the water does not interest you Waikiki has several shops and stores along Kalakaua Avenue, the main road along the beach. There are also numerous restaurants ranging from fast food to fine dining available in the area such as world famous Dukes Waikiki located in the Outrigger Hotel. If the night life intrigues you, Waikiki has that as well. There is nightly entertainment at places like Rumfire or SkyBar where you can dance the night away. There seems to be something for everyone in Waikiki and all are within walking distance.
